8-31-22 THOUGHTS
Jude is not one of our favorite books normally. Descriptions of ungodly men don’t excite me or build my faith. The mocker’s of the last time are with us, as are the worldly-minded and doubting. Our call to action is to have an active mercy and “save others, snatching them out of the fire.” These are strange words to our ears, especially when we think about how and when we should apply them. Surely, we must see a certain seriousness here concerning those who move away from God and His people. I am most uplifted as I read verses 24 and 25!
Jude 1:17-25 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, "In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts." 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.
24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
Rom 16:25-27 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past, 26 but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.
Eph 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
2Tim 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him [be] the glory forever and ever. Amen.
My Prayer:
O God, the one who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, keep us from evil and nothingness. Remove our flippancy and double-mindedness. Settle us and sober us and restore a powerful zeal to our souls. Teach us to focus on what matters, and cast aside what doesn’t. Lead us to the obedience of faith. Glory be to You forever.
In the name of Jesus we say, Amen.
